Solid Waste Vacation Shut Off

All single-family through 3-plex multi-family residential units with an active Iowa-American Water Company account must participate in the City’s Solid Waste Collection program per City Ordinance Chapter 8.08.

Solid Waste Collection services are started and terminated based on activation or termination of water service.

As a courtesy, the City of Davenport does offer a Vacation/Extended Leave Solid Waste Shut-Off program. This service allows you to temporarily shut-off your solid waste service due to an extended vacation or leave. Your monthly solid waste fee is reduced to zero for the period of leave specified. The maximum shut-off period is six months per year.

There is a military exception to this rule, which allows collection service to be disrupted for up to 12 months. A copy of military orders must be furnished to qualify for this exception. Call Public Works at 326-7923, Monday-Friday 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM for more information.

The cart will be returned to the property automatically after the six-month leave period has ended. To have cart returned earlier, call Public Works to request the cart be returned and leave discontinued. Billing will resume when the cart is returned to the property.

Complete and submit the form below along with the required $35 fee to request Vacation/Extended Leave Shut-Off. If you cannot submit this application electronically, print this page, provide the required information, and drop off the application with the $35 fee at the Davenport Public Works Center, 1200 E 46th St, Davenport, IA 52807.
