Garbage Cart Exchange

Does the size of your garbage meet your needs? If you said no, then you may need to right-size your cart.

To request a larger or smaller garbage cart, complete and submit the form below along with the $25 cart exchange fee*. The fee applies to all cart exchanges, except exchanges for new HOMEOWNERS who purchased the home within the last six (6) months. If you are a new homeowner within the last six months and would like to exchange your cart, call us during business hours at 563.326.7923.

The garbage cart requested will be delivered to the property identified on the Tuesday (garbage) or Thursday (recycling) following the City’s receipt of the completed request form and any applicable fee(s). Requests received after 1:00 PM on the day before the delivery days identified above will be completed the following week.

Carts scheduled for exchange should be left at the property’s usual collection point (street or alley) by 6:30 AM and must be empty. We will leave the property’s new cart in the same spot. Once the new cart is received, record the serial number on the front of the new cart to help you identify it.

*If you cannot submit this application electronically, print this page, provide the required information, and mail or drop off the application with the applicable fee to Customer Experience, City of Davenport, Public Works, 1200 E 46th St, Davenport, IA 52807.

Be aware there will be a change to your next quarterly city utility bill based on the size of cart you exchange too.  Smaller carts will have a smaller fee, larger carts will have a larger fee.
